CDI Specialist Jobs
Qualified candidates for CDI specialist positions are clinical candidates credentialed as an MD, PA, RN, BSN, (C-CDIS is a plus) with a strong clinical background and a minimum of three years Med-Surg, ICU, or Surgery experience or have previous experience in the HIM industry and are credentialed as an RHIA, RHIT, CCS with experience in ICD-9CM hospital-based coding (HIM management experience is a plus).
The responsibilities of a CDI specialist are primarily to review medical records concurrently within the requesting facilities and determine if there are gaps in documentation. If these gaps exist, the CDI specialist queries the physicians appropriately to clarify the documentation to support and then record the appropriate working MS-DRGs.
